Bismarck, ND, February 19, 2021: The BisMan Bombshellz Roller Derby League is excited to announce that it has received a $3,177.08 matching grant to help purchase roller skates for public use and enjoyment.
The funds were awarded through the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District’s (BPRD) Matching Grant program. The program encourages associations, organizations, clubs, or individuals to sponsor a project in a BPRD facility or park for the advancement of recreation opportunities in Bismarck.
The inspiration for the matching grant application is based on research that indicated that Bismarck-Mandan citizens had a strong desire to see the return of roller skating in the community.
Over the past three years, a joint effort between BPRD and the Bombshellz has added roller skating events to the BPRD’s annual July Celebration. Incorporating roller skates for the public to rent is a great addition and will appeal to a wide range of age demographics, from young children to older adults nostalgic for the days of roller rinks.
The total project cost to purchase 50 pairs of rental roller skates for public use at a BPRD facility is $6,354.16. The Bombshellz are currently fundraising to help cover their portion of the project amount. Donations can be made at https://www.bismanbombshellz.com/roller-skates-donation
The Bombshellz love roller skating and want to provide residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the joy of roller skating too.
